The amount of heat required to raise the temperature of unit mass of the substance by 1°C is known as Specific heat of a substance . Its S.I unit is J/kg-K and its CGS unit is cal/g-°C.Its formula is given by
                                         S=Q/(mΔT),
where,S is the specific heat,Q is the amount of heat,m is the mass and ΔT is the change in temperature.
