Digital India is a campaign launched by the Government of India in order to ensure the Government's services are made available to citizens electronically by improved online infrastructure and by increasing Internet connectivity or by making the country digitally empowered in the field of technology.[1][2] The initiative includes plans to connect rural areas with high-speed internet networks. Digital India consists of three core components: the development of secure and stable digital infrastructure, delivering government services digitally, and universal digital literacy.

The main objective of the campaign is to make government services available in electronic form. However, the move requires massive technological improvements at ground levels like, increased internet connectivity and infrastructure developments.
India has a huge potential in mobile and internet market with nearly 560 Million internet users. The government is successful up to a larger extent in digitalizing the common transactions like – making grocery payments, paying electricity bills, filing complaints, applying for jobs, normal bank transactions etc. In the coming years the government has planned to make all the significant government services digital.
