Ladies and gentlemen, it is a matter of immense pleasure for me to stand before you today and speak on an important subject that is of relevance to everyone associated with the tour and travel industry.
Ecotourism Society of India was founded in 2008. It is a non-profit organisation with the singular aim of promoting and ensuring environmentally responsible and sustainable practices in the tourism industry. The society was formed by eminent professionals associated with the tourism industry, along with environmentalists, under the advice of the Ministry of Tourism. ESOI works in close association with the Central and State Government bodies and groups of like-minded organisations to facilitate and ensure that their policies, initiatives and activities are implemented and followed smoothly.
ESOI has been holding national workshops on matters such as environment law, responsible tourism and best practices etc. In these matters it takes the help of agencies like World Wildlife Fund in India. Its activities have helped in creating an awareness about the environment, visits by people to ecotourism spots and protecting the environment while visiting places of tourist interest around the country, with special emphasis to the hills and forests or parks.
We invite honourable citizens to strengthen our endeavour by joining as members of ESOI. As members, you can exchange your views on best environmental matters with other members. You will also be invited to seminars and workshops across the country. Further, you will get affiliation to worldwide Ecotourism bodies, opportunities to attend conferences across the globe and visiting ecotourism spots in many countries.
