Why are plants and not humans known as producers even though they cook their own food ?

Plants prepare their own food by the process of photosynthesis,but animals do not grow or chemically prepare their own food.The animals take up raw food from the plants only.So the plants are called autotrophs (those who prepare their own food ) and animals are heterotrophs(those who cannot prepare their own food).
