Speech on English day
Hello, everybody, I am AB Singh and I am going to speak on the topic of English Day. English day is celebrated across the world on the world on April 23 every year. It was this day on which William Shakespeare one of the greatest English writers was born in 1564 and coincidentally he died on the same date in 1616.
This day started to be celebrated as English Day in 2010 when the UN Department of public information decided to celebrate this day to promote multilingualism and cultural diversity and to promote equal use of all 6 official languages used in UN Departments.
English is the most widely spoken language around the world and the cultural contribution of this language around the world cannot be ignored. Hence I would like to conclude by saying that among all the equal languages in the world English comes out to be at the top.
