Dear Friends, Today I am going to deliver a speech regarding eye donation.

Eye donation means donating the eye of a person after death for transplantation with the family consent. Anyone can be a donor, irrespective of age, sex, blood group, religion Anyone with cataract or spectacles can donate eyes. Persons suffering from hypertension, diabetes can also donate eyes.
One can donate the Eyes of the departed relatives though they have never registered as Eye donors. To donate the eyes of the departed, contact the nearest Eye Bank at any time of the day or night. Eyes have to be removed within 6 – 8 hours after death. Removal of Eyes will take only 15 to 20 minutes. It will be done right at the place where the body is, at any time of day or night, without disfiguring the face and without any expense to the donor family. However, 10ml of the deceased’s blood will be collected for the required tests.

Inspite of enrollment in any Eye Bank, Eyes can be offered to the nearest Eye Bank as place of death cannot be predicted. Donated Eyes will be collected only after death and a living person's eyes cannot be taken out for grafting purposes. Neither any synthetic material nor animal eye is a substitute for human eyes The information about the Donor and the Recipient is not disclosed to each other as this is maintained confidential by the Eye Bank. When registering yourself as an Eye Donor it is advisable to discuss the matter with your family, friends, lawyer, Personal physician etc, because your noble offer may not be fulfilled when the family is ignorant of or forgets this matter Please motivate your friends and relatives to enroll as Eye donors. In the event of anyone's death please find out the possibility of Eye donation and contact the Eye Bank if consent is obtained
Only those of legal age (+18 yrs) can enroll as Eye Donors by submitting one completed Pledge form, although age is no bar to donate the eyes of the departed, Please intimate change of address if any to the Eye Bank. Eye banks come under Human Organ Transplantation Act (1994), and are given registration after inspection by competent authorities. Donated eyes cannot be bought or sold as it is a crime under the above mentioned Act.

Heya,

☆☆☆Speech on EYE DONATION, BEST DONATION☆☆☆

Hello everyone, I'm _______. (your name) And I'm studying _____. So on this beautiful occasion I'm here to give a speech on EYE DONATION IS THE BEST DONATION. So let me start my speech by giving a awesome quote on eye donation.

"The eye sees a thing more clearly in dreams than the imagination awakes"
- Leonardo da Vinci

So I have a question before going deep into eye donation. Do anyone wish to be blind just for a day? Can anyone live without eyesight just for a day? Maximum of use won't even dare to think so. Because we love to see different kinda things and explore them. We people don't like someone to tie our eyes for a long time and say us to act as blind person. Even we hate to be locked in a closed dark room. People say I love darkness but practically we can't live without seeing anything in this world.

We can only imagine things like how would it be if I would be blind.? This earth consists of things both big and small but colorful. We see shapes and we recognize people or anything else because of our eyesight. The colorful things distinguish itself from another and therefore they have their own identities.
However, not everyone are lucky to have this precious thing. We will understand and realize only if we are forced to live a life of a blindness.

Yeah ofcourse many people are blind. And they live in their own world of darkness. They definitely have a chance of having eyesight. That is through EYE DONATION. Science had paved a way for people who are willing for transplanting their eyes to a blind person. Eye donation is the noblest thing because it opens up a new world of light for the blind. All we need to do is we should approach a eye donation centre and pledge when we are alive, to donate our eyes after we die.

The cornea is the important part of the eye which can become opaque because of infection, injuries, malnutrition, and due to congenital or hereditary reasons. A corneal plantation is done through a surgery in which opaque cornea is replaced with a clear cornea from an eye donor. Within 6 hours of a person's death a call for eye donation is to be made to eye-bank of a hospital. Eyes of the deceased are removed within 10-15 minutes. There are many tertiary hospitals with whom one can contact and express their will to donate eyes. Global ophthalmic community is now poised up to set up widespread across to corneal transplantation through eye donation. Though in India number of such calls willing to donate eyes have increased. But still it is very low as compared to the demand. And people unwilling or unaware about donating eyes adds to it. However many health organizations are engaging themselves in the task of creating awareness and counseling about this. And this way some improvement have been seen. But still a lot more is to be done.

People all over the world must be educated about eye donation and they must be convinced about leaving their myths. Only if eye donation becomes a tradition, the corneal blindness incidents can be reduced. However person dying of diseases like rabies, syphilis, aids, hepatitis cannot donate eyes.

We all know how important vision is for carrying out day to day activities. With the help of our eyes, someone else who is blind will be able to get that gift. Indeed, eye donation is one of the best donations that we can ever make. It is the most humanitarian of acts that we can commit during our lifetime. So why wait? Let’s one and all go to the nearest eye donation centre and pledge our eyes as a gift to mankind!

DONATE EYE AND LET THE CORNEAL BLINDNESS DECREASE.!

Hope my answer helps you :)

Shobana
