Albert Einstein once said: “Look deep into nature, and you will understand everything better.” Our planet is in trouble! Pretty much everywhere you look today, you will notice something reminding you that our planet’s health is failing. The Earth is getting weaker and weaker every minute, but not all of us are doing our part to save it.Burning fossil fuels releases harmful gases such as carbon dioxide and CFC’s into the Earth’s atmosphere. The burning of these gases contributes to over 80% to the world’s carbon dioxide emissions. This impacts the life of us humans, especially children and teenagers, as their bodies are still growing. There is however, one simple method of avoiding this danger. By switching from a non renewable resource like fossil fuels to a greener method of getting energy like solar power, we reduce the risk on our lives. Obviously you cannot afford to buy solar panels at this age, however, there are many other ways to go green like simply using less electricity altogether. We think of saving the environment and going green as a big problems and beyond human capacity. Big problems-yes they are. But we don’t want to do anything about them. When was the last time you did something to reduce your personal electricity usage? Forget doing. When was the last time you even thought of doing something? Don’t say that you know there is a need to go green. Everyone says it. Sadly, no-one does anything about it. Do your part by trying to convince your parents to buy solar panels. Or simply reduce your use of electricity. This will reduce your personal carbon dioxide emissions. Do the easiest of things, like switching off lights, or the air-con, or even travelling less by car. Do your part to go green!
