ri = c \div v

4/3=3×10^8÷v

v= 9×10^8÷4

= 2.25×10^8

HENCE THE SPEED OF LIGHT IN THE MEDIUM HAVING THE GIVEN R.I. IS 2.25×10^8 ...

Given that,

Speed of light in glass, v_1=2\times 10^8\ m/s

Refractive index 1, n_1=1.5

Refractive index 2, n_2=\dfrac{4}{3}=1.34

To find,

The speed of light in medium.

Solution,

The formula of refractive index is given by :

n=\dfrac{c}{v}

Here,

c is speed of light in vacuum

v is speed of light in a medium

It is clear that the refractive index is inversely proportional to the speed of light in a medium such that,

\dfrac{n_1}{n_2}=\dfrac{v_2}{v_1}

So,

v_2=\dfrac{n_1v_1}{n_2}\\\\v_2=\dfrac{1.5\times 2\times 10^8}{1.34}\\\\v_2=2.23\times 10^8\ m/s

So, the speed of light in the medium is 2.23\times 10^8\ m/s.
