speed of visible light is 3.0×10^8
it is an electromagnetic wave and all electromagnetiv waves have the same speed in air.

deepikakumarikvs: Why it is called speed of light
noorulayn: because light travels at this speed. it is a wave.
deepikakumarikvs: Why not velocity of light
deepikakumarikvs: Why it is called speed of light
noorulayn: uhh idk that xD but arent they both the same thing?

Speed is a scalar quantity (only magnitude) where as velocity is a vector quantity ( both magnitude and direction) . LIGHT does not travel in a single direction, it travels in all the direction. As light has no particular direction of propagation, it has got only magnitude. Therefore it is called speed of light.
