Yo!
Here is your answer,dude,
Well, this is just one instance in the whole of the time-travelling thing.Actually it starts like this-
The head master met Hermione and Ron,when they had been through the whole "Peter Pettigrew thing",He met them in the sick-bay,where Ron was injured(long story.)He told them that the past can be changed, but it should not lead to the disasterous consequences in the future.(They wanted to change what had happened before.)So,through this,Hermione thought of the time-turner,which was a magical artifact, which she had got from Professor Mcgonagall,as she had trouble adjusting to the lectures at the same time.(I know,a really weird nerd.)She took Harry with her,in the past, where all this had happened(can't tell you in more detail,as you said-"Spoiler Alert")They rescued Buck-beak,while the ground's keeper, the headmaster and the mayor were having a chat in the hut.And through that, they jump on Buck-beak's back,(something mysterious you kind of have to find out.)and fly off to the castle where Sirius is locked in,waiting to be sent to jail. There,Hermione tells Sirius to get away with Buck-beak,and to somewhere rather safe, and away from the guards. They do a thing or two after that,(again,"Spoiler Alert")and return to the present time.(At the same time, when the headmaster was explaining philosophy, amazing right?)
Hope that this is the answer you want,
(P.S-Better watch the movie,it is too good!)
