1. The highly condensed homologous pairs of chromosomes align themselves along the equatorial plate also called the metaphase plate of the cell.
2. Each of the homologous pairs of chromosomes bind to the respective spindle fibres through their kinetochore region.
3. These bivalent chromosomes experience a opposing and balancing force by the microtubules towards either centrioles.
