The extension will be 6cm long when the weight will be 4N.

GIVEN: Spring is 3cm long. A student hangs a weight of 2n on it.

TO FIND: Length of extension would be with weight 4N.

SOLUTION:

As we are given in the question,

The normal size of the spring is 3cm long.

The weight on which the student hangs the bag is 2N.

As we already know using the information given in the question,

(normal spring size)3cm + 2 newton = 4.5 cm

Now subtracting 4.5 cm to 3 cm = 1.5 cm

Also,

2 newton is equal to 1.5 cm added in spring

Therefore,

4 N = twice of 2 N = 1.5cm + 1.5cm = 3

3cm + 3 cm = 6 cm

Therefore,

The extension will be 6cm long when the weight will be 4N.
