Concept:
Square numbers are the perfect square of any integer that is the square of an integer, that is the number is multiplied by itself.
Given:
A number 110889.
Find:
The square root of the number 110889 using the Long Division method.
Solution:
Steps to use the Long Division method:
- Taking 110889 as the number whose square root is to be evaluated. A bar is placed over the pair of numbers starting from the unit place or Right-hand side of the number.
- Taking the largest number as the divisor whose square is equal to or less than the number on the extreme left of the number. The digit on the extreme left is the dividend here. Dividing and writing the quotient. Here the quotient is 3 and the remainder is 2.
- Next, bring down the number, which is under the bar, to the right side of the remainder. Here, in this case, we bring down 08. Now, 08 is our new dividend.
- Next, we have to select the largest digit for the unit place of the divisor such that the new number when multiplied by the new digit at the unit’s place, it becomes equal to or less than the dividend, here unit digit is 3.
- Again, repeat the process until the remainder is 0.
- When the remainder becomes 0, we have no number left for division. The quotient is the square root.
The calculation is done in the image attached below.
Hence, the square root of 110889 by the long division method is 333.
