[ first of all we need to bring the sq. root of 289 & 169 by long division method ( refer to the attachment ), show the division method ]

[ To find the sq. root of any number. Take 289 as example,

• the first step is to divide the number in pairs of 2 each from right hand side i.e. ‘2’ and ‘89’ are pairs.

• Then divide the numbers according to the pairs.

NOTE : after dividing every number multiply the quotient by 2

• Divide it until the remainder comes zero.

NOTE : Numbers ending with 2,3,7 & 8 are not perfect square.

• The quotient is the answer or the sq. root ]

 \sqrt{ \frac{289}{169} }   \\  =  \sqrt{ \frac{1 7\times17 }{13 \times 13} }  \\ \  =   \frac{17}{13}


so \:    \sqrt{\frac{289}{169} } =  \frac{17}{13}
