First he cover 12 m east then turn left or move toward north and walk 5 m. After this the displacement or the shortest distance between she and the final point is
 \sqrt{12 {  }^{2} { + 5}^{2} }
So the anwer is 13

Answer:

13m

Step-by-step explanation:

Refer the attached figure.

Srivani walks 12 m due East i.e. AB = 12 m

Then after turning left she walks 5 m i.e.BC = 5 m

Now we are supposed to find how far is she from the place started i.e. Length of AC

So, we will use Pythagoras theorem :

Hypotenuse^2=Perpendicular^2+Base^2

AC^2=BC^2+AB^2

AC^2=5^2+12^2

AC^2=25+144

AC^2=169

AC=13m

Thus she is 13 m away from the place started.
