Time duration for forward journey  = X / 17  hours
time  duration  for return journey  = X / 8  hours

total time duration  =  X / 17 + X /8 =  X * (1/17+1/8)  = X * 25/136

average speed =   2 X / (X * 25/136)  = 2 * 136 / 25 kmph  =  10.88 kmph
