Given  :  Danielle had a birthday party.

1/3 of the birthday cake was left over.

She wanted to share the left over birthday cake with 44 friends the next day.

To Find :  How much of the birthday cake would each get if they shared it equally

Solution:

Let say Total cake  = T

1/3 of the birthday cake was left over. = (1/3) T  = T/3

share the left over birthday cake with 44 friends  Equally

=> Each friend get  =  (T/3)/44

= T/(3 * 44)

= T/132

= (1/132) T

each get =  1/132  Share
