STAGES IN A RIVER'S LIFE
Most rivers start their course from mountains (the
source), flow through plains (the course) and
finally flow into the sea (the mouth). The course
of a river from its source to its mouth, therefore,
can be divided into three stages—the upper course
(youth), the middle course (maturity) and the lower
course (old age).
