Dormant water bodies like tanks and lakes seem green as a result of arrangement of green growth as green growth develops fastly in stale water. Dormant waters presented to daylight turn "green".
This is on the grounds that they have crude minerals as salts of N, P and K and so forth.
These are supplements and airborne spores of the green growth get into water eventually and turn green because of algal development.
