Nagpur Road Plan
Star and grid pattern of road network was adopted in Nagpur Road Plan.
- The Nagpur plan made the assumption that all adjacent significant cities and villages will be connected to the national capital using a star and grid system. The Nagpur road plan sets a target road length of 16 km per 100 square kilometres of the nation. Although the Nagpur Road Development Plan was intended to be completed between 1943 and 1963, it was actually completed two years earlier. The Nagpur road plan has a 5,32,700 km goal road length.
- Grid and radial layouts are both used in this type of road network. A radial network of roads spreads from the centre. The primary radial streets are then connected using the grid arrangement.
- In 1943, the Nagpur Plan, the first road development strategy, was created. Following independence, roadways were divided into National Highways, State Highways, District Roads, and Village Roads under the First Five-Year Plan (1951–56). All roads in Nagpur were divided into five categories: national highways, state highways, significant district roads, other significant district roads, and village roads.
