Explanation:

In a star, the conditions are such that fusion occurs, resulting in a release of energy. Some of this energy is radiated as light and hence it appears luminous. In the moon the conditions are such that no such thing occurs and hence, it is non-luminous. It only reflects the light falling on it mainy from thr sun.
