The star topology all the stations are connected to a central computers or hub creating a star configuration. The device are not directly linked to each other. Message pass from the node to the hub, where they are processed or passed along to another node. The hub controls the traffic on the network. If the hub fails, the entire network becomes inoperative, but if a node fails it does not affect the rest of the traffic on the network.
Advantage :
1. Easy to add new stations.
2. Easy to monitor and troubleshoot.
3. Can accommodate different wiring.
Disadvantage :
1. Failure of hub cripples attached stations.
2. More cable required, more expensive to wire a building for networking.
