Starch:

Starch is the type of polymer that is the form of storing carbohydrates in plants. Starch has a monomer of glucose which is bound in straight chains one after the other. It is chemically proven when starch does not give a positive test for reducing sugar when tested but gives a positive result when tested after acid hydrolysis.

The bonds in starch are of two types – the straight chains are formed of the glucose units attached by alpha -1 , 4- bonds. The branching of the starch comes from the alpha -1 , 6- bonds between the glucose molecules which leads to the branching from the main chain. Though, it is not very branched, branches are present.
