Starting from a stationary position, Usha paddles her bicycle to attain a velocity of 20ms-1 in 10seconds. Then she applies brakes in such that the velocity of the bicycle comes down to 5 ms-1 in next 5seconds. Calculate the acceleration of the bicycle in both the cases

Answer:

Acceleration In first case = 2m/s

Acceleration in second case is = -4m/s ( Negative Acceleration)

Explanation:

first case

Initial velocity(u) is 0.

Final velocity is (v) is 20.

Time (t) is 10 seconds.

TO FIND ACCELERATION USE A = V-U÷T

SO , ACCELERATION IS 20-0 ÷ 10

A = 2m/s.

Acceleration In Second case

Initial velocity(u) is 20

Final velocity is (v) is 5

Time (t) is 5 seconds.

APPLYING THE SAME FORMULA A = V-U÷T

5-20 ÷ 5

ACCELERATION IS -4m/s.
