Required answer:-

Refer to attachment -1)

Steps Taken by Sid according to directions in 2)

  • 12 m towards North.
  • he turn right and walks 12 m.
  • He again turns right and walks 3 m.

It means AC = 12 m, CD = 12 m and DE = 3 m. Then, BE = 12 m, AB = 12 m - 3 m = 9 m.

In right angled ∆ABE,

➛ AB² + BE² = AE²

➛ 9² + 12² = AE²

➛ AE = √225 m

➛ AE = 15 m.

Here, A is the Initial/Starting point and E is the final point. With respect to directions, E is in the North-east (NE) direction of A.

Hence,

The distance between the starting and final point and the direction is:

\huge{ \boxed{ \red{ \sf{15m, \: North - east}}}}
