greatest 6 digit number=999999
previous numbers in descending order=999998, 999997, 999996, 999995, 999994

kvnmurty: for such questions, you have to explain how and why u write that answer. just by writing 999999 like that, student does not understand. I he could then he would not ask this question.

Greatest 6-digit number is : Write six 9s. that is,  999,999

Previous 5 numbers in descending order will be - reduce the units digit by 1 successively. That is all.

999, 998        999,997,      999, 996,    999, 995        999,994
