- They pose only a threat to life and property.
- Hazards are natural or man-made phenomenon that are a feature of our planet and cannot be prevented.

Disaster:
- Disaster is an event which disrupts the normal life style of people in a community. It brings on human, ecological and environmental losses to the community. Which it cannot bear on its own.
