Answer: Almost all animals and humans are obligate aerobes that require oxygen for respiration, whereas anaerobic yeast is an example of facilitative anaerobe bacteria. Individual human cells are also facilitative anaerobes: They switch to lactic acid fermentation if oxygen is not available.
