it easly show the temperature it has low melting point .so it can easly identified temperature.

Mercury is used in thermometers because

#It dosen't stick to the surface
#It is a good conducter of heat
#It has a high boiling point
#It expands uniformally(linear expantion)and response quickly to temperature changes,hence it is sensitive.
#It has a visible meniscus.
