Answer:

The most visible features of urban life in the cities in the 19th century were:

● Pollution: Due to industrialization and widespread use of coal, large quantities of refuse and waste products polluted air and water. A thick layer of black smoke emitted by factory chimneys surrounded the skies.

● The noise of large machines became a feature of urban life. The noise of passenger and goods train whistles and wheels became troublesome.

Features of urban life

Explanation:

Population: Cities are population magnets as they provide jobs for a living. So all cities are characterized with dense population which leads to increased traffic and all the consequences of such dense population.

Pollution: Cities are polluted due to the increasing population and overuse of resources. So water pollution and noise pollution is common. With industries located near these cities, widespread use of coal and industrial waste polluted air and water.

The noise of the factories, passenger and goods train whistles and wheels created noise pollution.
