.......STATE AUFBAU PRINCIPLE .......

The aufbau principle states that in the ground state of an atom or ion

electrons fill atomic orbitals of the lowest available energy levels before occupying higher levels.

For example,

the 1s shell is filled before the 2s subshell is occupied.

In this way, the electrons of an atom or ion form the most stable electron configuration possible.

An example

the configuration 1s2 2s2 2p6 3s2 3p3 for the phosphorus atom, meaning that the 1s subshell has 2 electrons etc.

Aufbau is a German noun that means construction or "building-up". The aufbau principle is sometimes called the building-up principle or the aufbau rule

Hey !

Aufbau is a German word which means up or construction. The building up of orbitals means the filling up of orbitals with electrons.

Aufbau principal states that the electrons tend to occupy the availale orbitals of minimum energy in the ground state of an atom.

The order of increasing energy if atomic orbitals is :1s < 2s < 2p < 3p < 3s < 4s < 3d < 4p < 5s < 6s < 4f < 5d < 6s < 7s and so on.

Good luck !
