Hey !!
Faraday's Law
Faraday stated his experimental observations in the form of law called Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction.
1. Whenever the magnetic flux linked with an electric current (coil) changes, an E.M.F is induced in the circuit (coil). The induced E.M.F exists as long as the change in magnetic flux continues.
2. The induced E.M.F produced in the coil is equal to the negative rate of change of magnetic flux linked with it.
e = dФ/dt ; where Ф = flux through each turn
→ If the coil contains N turns, an emf appears in every turn and all these emf's are to be added. Then, the induced emf is given by,
e = -N . dФ/dt = -d/dt (NФ) : Where ''NФ'' is total flux linked with the coil of N turns.
(OR) e = -d/dt (NФ) = -d/dt (NBA cosθ)
REMEMBER '' Negative sign is in accordance with Lenz's law. The above law is also called as ''NEUMANN'S LAW''
LENZ'S LAW
LENZ'S LAW :- According to this law ''the direction of induced current in a closed circuit is always such as to oppose the cause that produces it''
EXAMPLE :- When the north pole is brought near a closed coil, the direction of current induced in the coil is such as to oppose the approach of north pole. For this the nearer face of coil behaves as north pole. This necessitates an anticlockwise current in the coil.
Similarly when north pole of the magnet is moved away from the coil, the direction of current in the coil will be such as to attract the magnet. For this the nearer face of coil behaves as south pole. This necessitates a clockwise current in the coil.
Note :- I have provided you with the Lenz's law example for the better understanding !!
Hope it helps you !!
