Despite the obvious fact we are all part of humanity, and we all live on this one “small” planet, there is no way anyone can assert we are all the same. Every single one of us have different individual characteristics, and those characteristics are conditioned at our birth. While the physical characteristics are beyond our control, our mental charicteristics are directly controlled by the environment where we are born. The location of our birthplace on this planet determines our nationality. Every one of us are born of parents who have been brought up and lived in one or more nations that have been created in the course of history. Each of these nations have developed in different ways, and over time, have created a recognised culture, even an unique language, and through tradition, a series of customs and standards that contribute to the national identity. It is that recognition of an individual’s national identity which leads to the way the society functions. If that identity is willingly accepted by the majority, then it would represent a unifying feature of the nation. As long as that national unity exists it provides the opportunity for people to live and work together in a environment of mutual respect and mutual harmony. If national unity is not there, for whatever reason, then conflict is the likely outcome.

If every province and state separated then there would be no big country. Without national unity governments would collapse.
