Fleming's left-hand rule:

In electromagnetic field, a conductor which carries current experience some force and it is perpendicular to its field and current generated in it.

Explanation:

Sir John Ambrose Fleming, an electrical engineer stated a rule that defines the direction of force acting in current carrying conductor placed in a magnetic field.

This law is defined with the fingers in the left hand, where the thumb gives the direction of the force or the motion of the conductor, the fore finger gives the magnetic field direction, and middle finger represents current direction. All the fingers are placed in a way, it is perpendicular to each other.

This rule is the working principle of the generator where the motion of the conductor gives the electric current. Thus, this rule is called as generator rule.
