Answer:
four characteristics of network solid :
Explanation:
1) In a network solid ,there are no individual molecules.
2) The atoms are covalently bonded in a continuous network resulting in a huge crystal.
3) Each atom is covalently bonded to all the surrounding atoms.
4) Network solids have similar properties to ionic solids.

A network solid is a continuous array of covalently bonded atoms in a precise and oriented structure.
For example : Diamond (allotrope of Carbon) ; Silicates (SiO4)
The 4 most important characteristics of network solids are as follows:
- They are insoluble in most of the solvents, because majority of solvents do not have a high dielectric constant in order to to solubilize network solids.
- The constituent atoms are closely packed by strong covalent bonds. Hence , huge amount of heat energy is required to break the bonds which in turn results in a high melting point.
- The electrical and thermal conductivity of these solids vary according to the free electrons present in the constituent atoms.
- They mostly have a high density due to compactness of the atoms. Less volume but high mass gives these solids a high density.
Hope It Helps.
