State in brief how artificial satellites are used in transmitting television programme over large distances.

the picture or sound to be tramsmitted is first converterd into electrical signals. then they are converted into a special type of waves and transmitted in air from a transmitting antenna so as to reach the artificial satellite. the signal received then amplified and re-transmitted by the instrument fitted in the satellite.the antenna fixed in a no. of stations on the earth including those of cable operators receive the signals and re-transmit them.the television set receive the signals and reconvert them in the form of images and sound.
