Cows, goats, deers, etc are called ruminant animals.

In ruminant animals like cows, the stomach has four chambers.

The various processes of nutrition is described below :

1. When the ruminant animals like cows eats grass, the cellulolytic bacteria present in the rumen releases an enzyme called cellulase. This enzyme helps to digest the cellulose of the grass and converts it into fatty acids.

2. The omasum of the ruminant animals absorbs the water, magnesium ions and fatty acids.

3. The abomasum releases gastric juices in the ruminant animals which helps in breakdown of the food taken in.

1. Grass eating animals quickly swallow the food and store it in Rumen.

2.After partical digestion in rumen the food is sent for further digestion.
