Joule's law of heating

When an electric current passes through a conductor for some time, the conductor gets heated up. Thus heating of a conductor due to the flow of electric current through it is known as Joule's law of heating.

Heat generated H=i 2 Rt

where i is the amount of current flowing though the conductor, R is the resistance of conductor and t is the time for which the current has flown.

Q=18000 C

t=1 hr=3600seconds

I=Q/t

I=18000/3600

I=5V

Amount of heat generated is

Amount of heat generated is H=VIt

50*5*3600

900000 J

Power input by the source is

Power input by the source is P=VI

=50× 5

= 250 W
