Joule's law of heating states that when a current of I amperes flows in a wire of resistance R ohms for time t seconds then the heat produced in joules and is given by H = I2Rt
The law implies that heat produced in a resistor is
(i) directly proportional to the square of current for a given resistance,
(ii) directly proportional to resistance to resistance for a given current and
(iii) directly proportional to the time for which current flows through the resistors.
