Answer:

Mendeleev's periodic law:

Properties of an element are the periodic function of their atomic masses.

ACHIEVEMENTS:

1)mendeleev left the spaces for some elements which were not discovered yet. He named three of them as eka-boron, eka-aluminum and eka-silicon based from their known neighbours. Not only this but its properties were also predicted. Later in these elements were discovered and named as scandium, gallium and germanium respectively. The properties of these elements matched well with those predicted by Mendeleev. Due to this success all were impressed by Mendeleev's periodic table.

2)there was no place for noble gas in Mendeleev's periodic table. Therefore, Mendeleev created the 'zero group' without disturbing the original periodic tablein which the noble gases were fitted very well

Answer:

Mendeleev's periodic law states that the physical and chemical properties of an element are periodic function of their atomic masses.

Explanation:

- When the elements are arranged in increasing order of their atomic mass, after fixed interval you can observe elements with similar properties.

- "Eka" means undiscovered element.

- Merits / Achievements :

1) Grouping of all known elements.

2) Gaps for undiscovered elements.

3) Properties predicted for unknown elements.

ex : 1) Eka Aluminium- Galium

         2) Eka Silicon- Germanium

         3) Eka Boron- Scandium
