OHM'S LAW
-------------------------------------------------

The current in an object at constant temperature is proportional to the potential difference across it's ends. The ratio of the potential difference to the current is the resistance of the object. The object must be at constant temperature for the law to apply since, a current will help it up and this will change its resistance . OHM'S law does not apply to some materials like :- semiconductors.

OHM'S LAW states :-

V / I = R = constant

where, V = potential difference

I = current

And , R = resistance.

RESISTANCE
--------------------------------------------------

The ability of an object to resist the flow of current. The value depends on the resistivity of the substance from which the object is made, it's shape and it's size.

The unit of resistance is the ohm (symbol: Ω).

The rate at which electrical energy is changed, because of resistance to heat energy ( ie :- power can be calculated as :-

power = I V = I² R

where, I = current

V = potential difference across resistance.

and R = resistance.
