Premolars

The maxillary first premolar has two roots, and the remaining premolars have a single root. There are no premolars in the primary dentition.

Molars

The most posterior teeth in the mouth are the molars. They have broader and flatter surfaces with 4-5 cusps.

>>Molars are the last set of teeth (4 in number)  whereas premolars are second last set of teeth (8 in number)

>> Premolars are monophyodont whereas 1st and 2nd molars are diphyodont and 3rd molars (rarely appears also known as wisdom teeth which are vestigial in human) is monophyodont
