Ciliary muscles are muscles found in the middle layer of our eye that makes space for viewing objects at varying distances.i The flatenning of the lens depends upon it's contraction and relaxation .

The ciliary muscle is a 'circular muscle' that 'tightens the zonules' which helps the lens to 'change shape for focusing'.  

Explanation:

The 'zonules are fibers' which hold the lens that are suspended in a position which also changes shape.  Ciliary muscles helps to adjust the crystalline eye lens.  

It helps us to see 'near and distant objects' clearly. That’s why ciliary muscle is very important for the human eye.
