I think it's correct.

It is done so that the potato chips doesn't get spoilt as they contain oil/days.

i.e,To prevent corrosion

HI

Fats or oils are used in the preparation of potato chips. After a long time they turn rancid due to oxidation by the air contained in the bags. Nitrogen replaces oxygen present in packets. Being inactive, it prevents rancidity.
