hold the current carrying conductor in your right hand such that the thumb finger show the direction of the flow of current and the fingers surrounding the conductor will show the magnetic field around it. if the the thumb finger is pointing up then the other fingers are rotated in the anti clockwise movement and thus we can find the direction of magnetic field around the conductor
