State some applications where we reduce the pressure by increasing the surface area.

Answer:

1. One of the best example is ship and needle. A needle sinks in the water but the ship doesn't. Why is it so? Because a needle has very less surface area so the pressure is high so it sinks while ship which has large surface area applies less pressure so it floats.

2. We feel comfort while standing on two feet while we can't stand on one foot anymore. It is because of the pressure.

3. We can easily cut the vegetables and fruits with a sharp knife while we can't cut the vegetables and fruits with a blunt knife. This is also because of the pressure.
