State state the difference between the outer layer of tissue and the branch of a tree and outer layer of young tree stem

The outermost layer of the trees is covered by the bark. Which gives it the strength, and protect the plant from the injury and infections. The bark is made up of the dead cells from the different origins like cork, phelloderm, cortex, phloem and xylem. The outer layer of young stem is made up of living cells.
