Forest fires can be cause by heatwaves. Its effects are mass destruction, and burning down of forests and it can sometimes cause harm to human life and wildlife. Although this is bad. fires can help forests grow better and more healthy trees.

1. Human activities : They are the major cause of forest fires.They are,

       ⇒Open burning

       ⇒Improperly discarded cigarettes

       ⇒Improper functioning of power lines

       ⇒Camping fires on windy or dry days

       ⇒Fireworks also causes forest, grass and bush fires

2.Lightnings : They cause 17% of wild land fires , but a minimal percentage of overall forest fires.

3.High wind : It is not a direct cause of forest fires, but it contribute largely to their spreading .

EFFECTS OF FOREST FIRES :

1.Fire departments are forced to use harmful chemicals in order to put wildfires in control.

2.Forest fires leave ashes behind which erode the soil and destroy the balance in its nutrients.

3.Wildfires contribute towards increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.This makes the greenhouse effect even stronger and speeds up climate change.

4.Smaller animals like rabbits, snakes , insects, squirrels, birds etc are at a major risk of death during forest fires.

5.The nation's economy suffers too , because people's properties are destroyed during a forest fire.
