Answer: As the weight of an object increases the friction increases and when the weight of the object decreases friction decreases.

Explanation: Friction is the force exerted by any object on to its contact surface. Force of a stationary object is the objects mass times the acceleration due to gravitational force of the earth. This is called the force of gravity.

F = m×g

where,

F - force of the object

m- mass of the object

g - acceleration due to gravity

Frictional force is the force which is applied in the opposite direction of the force acting on the object/body.

Hence the conclusion is when an object is heavier the force due to gravity is greater and proprotionally the force due to friction will be greater also when the object is lighter the friction acting upon it is also lower due to less force of gravity on it.

This answer and explanation is also correct for the comparison of friction acting on any moving heavier or lighter object as well.
