Heya friend!!
Rajdeep here...

(a) When implantation of the embryo occurs, the endometrium layer (inner uterine wall) is not shed, due to release of hormone Progesterone from the Corpus Luteum. So the menstruation stops temporarily. The tissues of endometrium layer provides nutrition to the foetus and serves for the attachment of the foetus so if Implantation of the embryo has occured, then the layer is not shed.

(b) When the egg is not fertilized, the endometrium layer of the uterus is shed, the bleeding is known as Menstruation. Again the Corpus Luteum degenerates and the Graafian follicle grows, which ruptures again (after 28 days) and another mature ovum is released.

Hope my answer is satisfactory...
Thanks!!
